I’ve just returned from a trip to Hartford, CT for the Stitches United convention. My mom and I don’t tend to go to many fiber festivals, but we decided to stop in to this convention because Knit Picks would have a booth, and I so wanted to meet the team for whom I’ve been designing for the last several years!
We headed right for the Knit Picks booth and I was able to chat with Stacey, with whom I’ve worked on several Knit Picks collections. She is just as lovely and kind in person as she is over email! It was crazy busy at the Knit Picks booth, but she still took time out to talk with me and introduce me to several others on the KP team. It was a wonderful experience! Plus, I was able to see (and feel) a few of their new yarn lines, including Provincial Tweed, a gorgeous Aran weight Donegal tweed, and Alux, a brand new baby alpaca fingering weight with sparkle. It was so fun to browse the booth, and we picked up two Knit Picks books as well!
After spending quite a while at the Knit Picks booth, we made the rounds of the marketplace and scored some great finds!
I picked up Anna Zilboorg’s handbook for embroidering knits, and we were able to see one of her embroidered vests. It was exquisite. I can’t wait to use her methods and design an embroidered knit garment!
We went to the Webs booth and I picked up this luscious pack of gradated hand-dyes in a fingering weight merino by Wonderland Yarns. It is so scrumptious and soft, and I had a very hard time choosing a colorway, but eventually I settled on purple – my favorite. I already have some ideas what I want to do with this!
Finally we hit up the Rauma distributor and bought quite a few patterns. The Rauma wool is gorgeous, and we love their traditional Nordic patterns.
All in all, I’d say it was a very successful first trip to Stitches United!
