I seem to be on a hat kick of late! Perhaps it's the cold weather, or the fact that I am spending more time outdoors than I have in many years. Whatever the reason, hat designs seem to be the thing! (Not to fear, I'm simultaneously working on two new sweaters AND a new shawl design, among other …

January 30, 2021 / by Bridget Pupillo / 2 Comments

Something about being cooped up at home for nearly a year, with no chance to travel or see much beyond my back yard, really has me pining for family trips we took years ago. We generally didn't have much money to set aside for fancy getaways, so most of our family vacations were camping and hiking …

My Fiddleheads Cowl pattern released yesterday! Th My Fiddleheads Cowl pattern released yesterday! This was a super fun design to create. I wanted it to be bold and graphic and botanical, so after some thought I settled on fiddlehead ferns in a beautiful gradient against a solid background. This is a stranded knit design, but I tried to limit the long floats to the top of the cowl design. The Fiddleheads Cowl would look great in a variety of color combinations, and Knit Picks has some brand new fantastic colorways in their Chroma Fingering yarn!

Go check out the Fiddleheads Cowl design on my Ravelry page or as part of the new Chroma Vista collection at Knit Picks!
I am super excited for my newly released #Aberdare I am super excited for my newly released #AberdareThrow which is part of Knit Picks' new Simply Home collection. It's geometric and bold with an elongated Chevron design, and I just love it in Simply Wool, a natural undyed and sustainable wool from Knit Picks. Best of all, the throw is completely reversible! Go check it out on Knit Picks or find it on my Ravelry site (see my Linktree).

This is my original test knit in a very "homely" undyed natural wool. Not nearly as beautiful as the deep royal plum in the professional photos, but the natural color shows off the cable design well. This is such a cozy knit, and the cables are much easier than they look! Check out my design on my Ravelry page (link in my linktree) or search for Homestead Cables on the Knitpicks website!

I've recently added my #FinestreSocks pattern to m I've recently added my #FinestreSocks pattern to my Ravelry library! These are fun socks to knit because they use the mosaic technique, which means only one color per round. "Finestre" means windows in Italian, and the contrasting textured pattern reminds me of little window panes. Here I used two contrasting sock yarns: one is Knit Picks Chroma fingering in black, and the other is a hand-dyed yarn with dyes made from onions and wild mushrooms. Finestre socks look great with a solid color paired with a hand-dyed, speckled, or gradated yarn. Use your imagination!

The Finestre Sock pattern features three size options: youth 4-6, women's medium and men's medium sizes. Find the pattern on my Ravelry site or available for purchase at Knit Picks (check the LinkTree in my profile for links to both)!
And now for something slightly different...I love And now for something slightly different...I love creating my own knitwear designs, but at times I also love to fall back on old classics. Here is one of those classics: an Icelandic Lopi sweater, made from #alafosslopi wool, in shades of blue and natural white. I love the dark and light fleck in the main color! This sweater is incredibly warm and water resistant due to the natural properties of Icelandic sheep wool. You can find the sweater and others for sale in my Etsy shop by searching Brigiknits as the shop name.
Here is the shorter (wristwarmer) version of my ne Here is the shorter (wristwarmer) version of my newly released Garvamore Mitts! The two different lengths included in the pattern will offer knitters flexibility. I made these mitts using @knit_picks luxurious Twill, a 100% super wash merino in Crabapple. So soft and warm!

Take a look at my linktree to find the pattern on @hi.ravelry with $1 off purchase now through Monday 6 March.
